Skin prepared for the sun? Study confirms the effect of red light on preventing UV damage
Clinical study published in the journal Lasers in Surgery and Medicine brings a groundbreaking discovery: Repeated application of red LED light with a wavelength of 660 nm can significantly reduce skin damage caused by UVB radiation. The results confirm a new path to natural skin protection – without chemicals, barriers, and side effects.
manufacturer of photobiomodulation panels redlight.doctor this technology into practice. Its devices with a full spectrum of 297–1280 nm also include the therapeutically key wavelength of 660 nm. Users can thus incorporate the so-called photo prevention protocol to your daily routine – for example, during morning light exposure.
"It's not about classic sun protection. It's about activating natural cellular mechanisms that prepare the skin for stress before it occurs," explains the team at the brand redlight.doctor.
Study results: less inflammation, less damage
Study monitored 13 healthy volunteers and 2 patients with photosensitivity. After a series of 5–10 LED light treatments, exposure to UVB radiation was tested. In 85 % of participants occurred to reduction of redness (erythema). In some cases, the effect was comparable to SPF 15, and that without the application of any chemical substance.
According to researchers, cellular adaptation occurs:
• antioxidant pathways are activated,
• reduces the production of collagenases (MMP),
• modulation of the inflammatory response occurs.
Prevention and regeneration in one device
Redlight.doctor panels use clinically relevant wavelengths, including 660 nm, and additionally cover a broader spectrum (UV-A, blue, red, NIR, SWIR). This allows the device to be used not only for prevention but also to support regeneration after UV exposure, after aesthetic procedures, or in cases of skin inflammations.
Who can benefit from this?
Photoprotection is suitable for:
• people with sensitive skin, prone to pigmentation or PLE
• athletes and outdoor professionals with long-term sun exposure
• users of anti-aging therapies who are looking for a more natural approach
• everyone who does not want to be solely dependent on chemical protection
Morning routine of the future
According to the manufacturer's recommendation, it is sufficient daily or every other day application on the panel for 5–10 minutes on the face, décolleté, or another exposed area – ideally morning, before sun exposure. Photoprotection is thus compatible with regular morning hygiene or exercise and does not interfere with the normal day.
Brand with a reach
Redlight.doctor is a Czech manufacturer focused on clinically proven photobiomodulation. His devices utilize the full spectrum from 297 to 1280 nm and are designed to cover both therapeutic stimulation and regenerative or preventive effects – including light preparation for the sun.
"We teach the skin to defend itself. Not to cover it up. And we provide data that supports this path."
